The Dallas Parks Foundation (DPF) was established in 2002 to support our community’s efforts of enhancing and building a more functional, beautiful and inviting network of parks. As the vast majority of the City of Dallas’ 374 parks do not receive any dedicated or sustained level of private funding and only minimal public funding the need for a leveraged support became apparent.
To date our organization has partnered on 12 diverse capital endeavors, assisting other volunteer organizations that reflect our mission of leveraging $100,000 of general funds to raise more than $1.8 million for their various causes. These projects ultimately benefit individuals and families from all sectors of our community.
The Dallas Parks Foundation was organized in 2004 as a 501 (c) (3), non-profit organization with a mission to achieve a premier citywide system of parks* that is sustainable throughout the 21st century by:
- Securing and administering private funds to enhance and maintain parks throughout Dallas
- Promoting increased public funding for the Dallas park system as a whole
- Increasing community awareness of, stewardship of and participation in all Dallas parks
Great cities are known for their grand public places and great parks. It is the intention of the Dallas Parks Foundation to work alongside the Dallas Park and Recreation Department and the Dallas Park Board to recover the quality and prestige of the Dallas parks system, regain the confidence and enthusiasm of our citizens and reposition Dallas Parks once again as a recognized state and national leader.
*To include public open spaces not within the Dallas Parks System.
